About NoHomeTax.org
NoHomeTax.org and Act 388
No Home Tax SC is a group of South Carolina citizens who are passionate about advocating for less bureaucracy and unfair government taxation.
Founded in 1998 by the legendary Realtor and tax crusader Emerson Read, No Home Tax has been a key player in changing the tax codes of South Carolina for the last two decades. In 2006, thanks to the efforts of Read and the passionate citizens and advocates of our organization, the South Carolina House and Senate passed Act 388, a statewide tax relief bill that cut property taxes in one-half for owner occupied homes.
This act saved people of South Carolina millions of dollars at a time when constituents were losing their homes to rising tax rates. The French Society of Charleston honored Read with its’ Humanitati Award, and Governor Mark Sanford inducted him into the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian award for a South Carolina citizen.
